Overview & Highlights

Situated on the picturesque port of Ribadesella in Asturias, Spain, El Campanu La Ría del Campanu is a culinary gem celebrated for its authentic Asturian cuisine that radiates freshness and tradition. Located at C. Manuel Caso de la Villa, 44, this restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere where the maritime charm of Ribadesella meets the warmth of heartfelt hospitality.

El Campanu’s menu is a delightful journey through local flavors with standout dishes such as the rice prepared in your choice of caldoso (brothy), meloso (creamy), or seco (dry) styles, all boasting generous portions that easily satisfy two to four guests. The rice here isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience, bursting with depth and smoky seafood undertones that linger on the palate. The Navajas (razor clams) are praised for their impeccable freshness, capturing the essence of the sea with every tender bite. The Bonito a la Plancha, a simply grilled tuna, combines delicate textures and bold marine flavors, showcasing the kitchen’s commitment to quality and authenticity.

Seafood lovers will also appreciate the Shrimp El Campanu, a favorite among patrons, and the intriguing liquid appetizer—an unexpected delight that teases the taste buds with its subtle complexity. For those eager to indulge in local tradition, the cidrería service is memorable: sip Asturias’ famed cider in the traditional shot style—pour, one sip, repeat—turning every drink into a lively ritual.

Dining here is further enhanced by the stunning views of Ribadesella’s bustling port from the terrace. This setting merges a vibrant maritime ambiance with a relaxed, convivial environment. However, reviewers have noted a few quirks—such as unlisted menu prices that can make the final bill a surprise, and moments of slow or uneven service during busy periods—which do little to detract from the overall appealing and genuine dining experience.

The staff strike a friendly and reassuring balance, offering warm service tailored to making you feel welcome rather than just another visitor. While the interior lighting could be toned down to create a more soothing vibe, the genuine passion behind each dish and the remarkable flavors more than compensate.

El Campanu La Ría del Campanu is a must-visit for anyone seeking an elegant yet hearty Asturian meal rich in local character. Whether you are a seafood aficionado or exploring regional specialties like fabada stews or unique rice dishes for the first time, this restaurant promises a flavorful adventure with every bite. Reservations are recommended, especially during peak seasons, to ensure you don’t miss out on experiencing this authentic slice of coastal Spain.

Fresh and delicious food , all plates were made with love. 1/2 of menu doesn’t have any price, so final check will be surprise, because never know what you gonna pay. Cidreria offers local cider with entertaining served or with machine. The secret of the cider : You have to drink cider in shots! One serve - one sip. Great view of the port from terrace. Poor quality of the service, when you feel treated as tourist

Great restaurant on the Ribadesella dock: the Navajas were outstanding, fresh and maritime while the Bonito a la Plancha was very good. They also served a strange but good liquid appetizer. Very reasonable prices, friendly staff and parking in the area. Recommended+++ for a hearty and elegant dinner.

Best rice I've had in 10 years in Asturias! They ask you if you'd like it caldoso, meloso or seco (how liquidy). Super tasty. Generous portion (rice for 2 could easily feed 4). Wonderful waiters. An excellent lunch. Will without doubt return.

Excellent food and the server were extremely nice. It was peak holiday period and a lot of people and service was a little slow, but nothing crazy. We want to go back before we leave. The shrimp El campanu was my favorite!!

My first Fabada and I can not complain. Its not my cup of tea but atleast I now know how it tastes. Everywhere we go we were seen as tourists and strangers which we were but we did not feel it much in this restaurant. The only thing was that the lights in the restaurant were very blinding

Absolutely delicious food. Really can't say enough about how good the food is, you need to make a reservation and try it. Really nice staff, chill but prompt service.
